I'm so excited to finally be bringing you all my Formulate hair care review post after many weeks of working with them and trying their products. Formulate is a personalized hair care company that specializes in creating custom shampoos and conditioners to fit your hair needs and goals.
How does it work?
When you go to the Formulate website they have you fill out a survey with questions about your hair type, what you're trying to achieve, and the scent. I went with Freshly Squeezed (orange scent) and chose medium strength for the scent. Their products are also sulfate free so I was really excited to find that out when I started working with them. It took them a little less than two weeks to get my package to me so I was able to try everything out pretty quickly.
My Review
How well the shampoo/conditioner works: I'm giving the shampoo and conditioner a 7/10. I think the scent was really nice and overall, the products cleaned my hair pretty as long as I washed it twice (which is recommended when you receive your set). I actually ended up getting three different formulas of shampoo and conditioner and the third formula worked really well! The only "negative" comment I have is that the conditioner didn't make my hairy as shiny and smooth as I'd like it to, even after getting it reformulated. At the end of the day, the shampoo worked really well and that's the most important thing to me. If you're not 100% satisfied with your products, even after getting new formulas, they'll issue you a full refund!
Did I achieve my hair goals: I feel like overall, my hair needs were met. My hair seemed to have volume and was pretty smooth and straight. My hair smelled good and stayed cleaned between washed (I only wash my hair 3-4 times per week).
Overall thoughts: I think Formulate has a great concept and is very affordable considering it is customized just for you. Everyone's hair is different and not everyone will achieve the same results, but I would 100% recommend their products to anyone who is looking for a change in their hair-care routine. I really like the packaging and how clean and simple the look of the bottles were. In your package comes a card with your name on it and the ingredients used for your personal formula, which is a cool touch. The Formulate team was also really great to work with and very adamant about getting me the right formula. The product itself seems to do it's job and I'm going to continue to use it and recommending it to anyone who asks.
